THE ARMED forces charity is urgently appealing for residents in Bracknell and Wokingham to become volunteers.

The SSAFA are looking to recruit new caseworkers to help them carry out vital work to support veterans and their families across the two boroughs.

Tracey Berridge, deputy director of volunteer operations at SSAFA, said: “We are in urgent need of more dedicated volunteers in Bracknell and Wokingham, so SSAFA can continue to reach more veterans and families in need of help.

"They have sacrificed a great deal for us, and now it’s our turn to support them.”

SSAFA volunteer caseworkers provide support to veterans and their families who are in need including access to financial assistance, advice and support on personal affairs and access to special equipment for those who need it.

The Berkshire charity is also looking for new divisional secretaries who live in the local area. They are responsible for the day to day running of the organisation and provide support to the other volunteers in the area.

Ms Berridge added: “After all that the Armed Forces and their families have sacrificed for us, we feel it is our duty to make sure they receive the support they need when they face difficulties on their return to civilian life.”

The charity believe that volunteering is a great way for residents to give something back to the community.
