COMMUNITIES across the borough are being encouraged to organise a street party this summer.
Reading Borough Council is offering the chance to celebrate without having to pay the usual road closure fees.
The Big Lunch (June 1&2), The Great Get Together (June 22&23) and Reading Summer Street Party Weekend (July 6&7) are all perfect for street parties.
Councillor Tony Page, deputy leader of the council, said: “It is important to recognise the many things we all have in common and to come together to celebrate our communities.
“We often only catch a glimpse of our neighbours as we go about our everyday business, so this is an opportunity to stop and get to know the people living in our street."
The deadline for applications is April 22. Visit: www.reading.gov.uk/streetparties and complete the form to take part this year.
