THE DUKES Head in Wokingham will be hosting a 24-hour darts tournament to raise money for children in care at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

The pub will be holding the tournament on Friday, March 1 from 8pm to 8pm to raise money for the children wards at the Hospital in Reading.

The event has been organised by Nicholas Prior and the money raised will be donated to the Royal Berkshire charity.

Nicholas Prior, said: “We have been raising money for over 10 years now to support the tremendous staff at the Royal Berks Hospital in the children’s ward who go way beyond their job requirements in looking after these very sick children.”

In December last year the charity raised over £7,000 and brought 8 iPads for the children.

Mr Prior added: “This helps the excellent staff explain mri scans and treatments to the children, so they are not nervous and scared of what needs to be carried out to improve their wellbeing and health.

“As well as letting the children use them for fun reasons to lift their spirits and take their minds of the illness such as cancer they unfortunately have.”

The Double Top Dart Shop in Wokingham will be sponsoring the tournament.

Mr Prior said: “l would like to thank with the Hospital all the dart players taking part, the fundraisers and the local community for their consistent and generous support.”
