A MAN has been convicted of murder by a unanimous jury after a father was 'viciously attacked' and left for dead.

Liam Turner, of Spencer Road, Reading, stood trial at Reading Crown Court over the unprovoked killing of Miroslaw Januszkiewicz – known as Mirek.

The victim was walking along the A329 London Road, Bracknell, when 28-year-old Turner approached him in his car.

Mr Januszkiewicz was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, but later died after suffering serious head injuries.

He was found near to the BP garage at around 2.40am on April 10 last year and died the following day.

It is believed that a verbal exchange took place between Turner and the victim, who eventually got out of his car after following Mr Januszkiewicz.

Turner was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, which was then updated when the victim died of his injuries.

Detective chief inspector Andy Howard, said: “This was a shocking case in which Mr Januszkiewicz was viciously attacked.

“He did not know his attacker, had never met him before and was just trying to go about his business.

“Turner approached his victim engaged him in conversation, followed him in his car, and then carried out a prolonged attack on Mirek, before driving off and leaving him for dead.

“Mirek’s family have heard in court graphic details of this completely random, unprovoked and needless killing.

“I would like to thank them for their patience and support during our investigation and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”

He is due to be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Tuesday (February 12).

A statement from Mr Januszkiewicz's family described him as a kind gentleman.

They added: “It is with deep sadness that a much loved brother, son, father, uncle and dear friend has passed away.

“Born and raised in Poland but resident of Bracknell from 2013 he had many friends and touched the hearts of many more. He was very kind and real gentleman.

“Miroslaw Januszkiewicz faced many life challenges but had good heart full of love, possessed many special qualities that made him great person. We all love him and he will be always in our hearts.”
