A MAN has praised the generosity of good Samaritans who came to help his girlfriend after she was knocked off her bike.

Kirsty Constable was cycling to work on Thursday morning when she was hit by a vehicle on Martins Heron roundabout at around 7.30am.

Her boyfriend, James Hibberd, who is a student paramedic, was initially shocked by the bad news, but was pleased to hear how many people offered to help.

As well as passers-by, who handed over their jackets to keep her warm, staff from the nearby Tesco provided blankets.

James, who lives in Winkfield, said: "She was on her way to the train station when there was an accident.

"Someone pulled out on the roundabout when they thought it was clear and hit her.

"She is still in hospital at the moment, but she should make a full recovery."

Having been in the emergency services for six years himself, Mr Hibberd knows what it is like to attend medical emergencies of this nature.

Ms Constable, a psychiatric nurse, was taken to Frimley Park Hospital after being struck on her left side.

She is not believed to have suffered serious injuries, but she is expected to be off work for four to six weeks.

Mr Hibberd, 32, added: "I want to praise the staff at Tesco and the local residents who came out to help her.

"There is a lot of negativity nowadays, so it is nice to be able to talk about something positive.

"People provided blankets to help keep her warm and the ambulance arrived pretty quickly.

"We were able to get her into the warm and there was tea and coffee provided. Everyone was just so compassionate.

"These were brand new blankets off the shelf from Tesco. People who witnessed the crash just passed by and saw what had happened.

"One lad was wearing a suit and took off his jacket to help keep her warm. He was just stood there in a shirt."
