A BODY-positive woman is holding a fashion show to raise money for a charity very close to her heart.

Caroline Cassels, 25, from Crowthorne is organising a Victoria Secret inspired show at Royal Holloway in Egham to donate money to the eating disorder charity, Beat.

After suffering herself with an eating disorder for eight years, Cassandra wants to create a show that embraces women of all shapes and sizes to give back their confidence.

The event held on April 6 will host a diverse age range, with girls from 17 to 77 taking part in walking the runway wearing angel wings, created by Caroline herself.

Caroline said: "I stumbled upon the 2017 Victoria Secret Fashion show on TV and noticed how these women modelling on the catwalk [angel's] were 6ft tall, a size 4 and I thought - wouldn't it be so nice to walk down a runway.

"The show I am putting together is for women of all shapes, sizes and ages to have the chance to feel amazing about themselves, that way they should feel and gain their confidence back.

"All profits raised from the event will go towards Beat to raise awareness for eating disorders and mental health."

Caroline started developing a negative relationship with food when she was 17 while studying for her A-Levels. She started exercising with her friend but would become 'obsessed' with it and knew it had taken over her life when she planned to go to the gym after a family meal out.

The project coordinator added: “Eight years later, after a huge amounts of ups and downs, I am finally starting to find my inner peace with food and have a better relationship with it.

"However, being a woman, I still criticise myself every day and feel insecure about my body.”

It is estimated 1.25 million people in the UK suffer from an eating disorder; a serious mental illness that includes binge eating disorders, anorexia, bulimia and many more.

Emily Battersby-Case, Beats community fundraiser officer said: "Last year, Beat directly supported over 17,000 people and this year we will help more than 30,000.

"It is inspiring to see how passionate Caroline is about creating a culture where people feel cared for and know where to get help."

Caroline noted the importance of getting help, she said: "No one should ever feel alone in how they feel, it is okay not to be okay and always talk to someone."
