Cymdeithas Seryddol Llandyrnog Astronomical Society

FORMED in 2009, CS Llandyrnog AS was set up by local amateur astronomers.

With the aim of facilitating astronomy education, observation and practical skills, the group has held meetings in Llandyrnog Village Hall over the past 10 years.

The dark skies of the Vale of Clwyd and surrounding mountains make a wonderful location for stargazing.

The society has recently held talks on the planets of our Solar System, and discussed the discoveries of exoplanets in other systems.

The theme this season is observatories around the world and how to build your own!

Over the years, the society has developed an extensive library of books and resources, and a range of internet resources for the use of its members.

Working alongside the North Wales Astronomy Society and the Gwynedd Astronomy Society, CS Llandyrnog AS has helped facilitate the BAA weekend conference at Optic Technium, Bodelwyddan and displays at the National Eisteddfod in Denbigh and Bala.

Chairman Chris Jones would like to welcome all to the 10th anniversary celebration, in the balcony room at Llandyrnog Village Hall on January 29 (7.30pm).

People can go along and discuss Ultima Thule, the New Horizons mission beyond Pluto!
