A SCHOOL bus driver suffered minor injuries after he was involved in a fail-to-stop collision while pupils were on board.

Courtney Buses and Thames Valley Police are appealing for help to trace the driver of a vehicle, described as a green Land Rover, who did not stop after a collision with the bus.

None of the children are believed to have suffered serious injuries during the incident, which happened on Thursday morning on Terrace Road North, Binfield.

Reports surfaced on social media that the 150 bus travelling from Binfield had been involved in a 'hit and run' accident shortly before 8am.

One mother said her 14-year-old son, who attends Garth Hill College, received medical attention.

Stacey Lee said: "It is assumed at this moment our son has concussion following being thrown along the bus and whacking his head.

"My oldest son was also on the bus and said the driver hit his head on the steering wheel with some impact.

"As a parent, allowing your children into the wider community independently as they grow up is a scary journey.

"But a huge part of you has to believe they will be safe and adults will help to ensure they don’t come to any harm.

"Hearing the driver of the vehicle in this morning's collision drive away from the scene without checking to see how the bus driver and his passengers were infuriated me.

"Their behaviour and attitude suggest they have no care for other humans.

"No parent ever wants to receive a phone call to inform them their child is hurt, especially with a suspected head injury.

"Hearing the driver showed concern and remorse would have offered us all, especially my impressionable teenage, some comfort.

"Thankfully my son seems okay - but as a mum - these incidents stay with you.

"If anyone saw anything please do the right thing and report your info to either Courtney Buses or the police.

"As you can imagine, it's your worse nightmare as a parent to receive that phone call."

Courtney Buses confirmed that they are investigating the incident and Thames Valley Police have been approached for comment.

A spokesman for Courtney Buses added: "We are investigating the incident as we speak.

"We are desperate to find out a registration number for the vehicle involved.

"The parent concerned is right to say that the vehicle failed to stop.

"The bus driver was checked out by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital.

"He has since been released with minor neck pain, but no more than that."

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said:  "We were contacted by Thames Valley Police at 8.03am, who informed us of a collision between a school bus and a car on Terrace Road North, Binfield.

"We were told the children on the bus were all fine but the bus driver was complaining of whiplash type pain in his neck.

"We sent an ambulance to the incident and the bus driver was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for further assessment."
