GREEN-fingered nursery children are busy learning about the environment in a six week nature programme.

Greengables Day Nursery in Owlsmoor, Sandhurst set up the programme after launching its brand-new outdoor learning space.

Children can enjoy engaging in outdoor activities in a revamped garden, being tasked with challenges aimed to teach them basic maths, science and environmental learning.

Jen Ralphs, Greengables Day nursery manager said: "The children love being outdoors and we thought this programme would be the perfect way to incorporate the new garden into their learning.

"Not only is this scheme helping to progress their knowledge on the environment, but helps to nurture key skills for development too."

The six week programme includes exploring art in nature by collecting natural materials from the garden and crafting them into shapes.

Kids will also get involved in bug observations and scavenger hunts.

The nursery currently holds an eco-schools Silver award for environmental conservation and awareness and aims to work towards the top Green Flag award in the internationally recognised schools scheme.

The nursery is also powered by green electricity from the sun, wind and has nearly zero waste to landfill making sure to recycle all rubbish.
