FOOTBALL training sessions for children started this weekend in Wokingham, which aim to teach young people the basic skills of the game.
The Mini Soccer programme started on Saturday, January 12 at Cantley Park Astro in Wokingham.
The sessions teach children between the ages of four to seven the basic skills they need to be successful in football.
Ben Winship, football coach said: “I’m really looking forward to this term and working with new and returning children. The children will learn, develop and improve whilst most importantly having fun.”
The skills include passing, dribbling, shooting for the goal and goal keeping. The training also incorporates fun games to practice agility, balance and coordination.
Mr Winship added: “Each week we look at a different skill from the individual basics such as; dribbling, passing, tackling and shooting to the more game/team related skills like communication, teamwork, possession and pressing."
“This enables the children to get a really good grounding to start their footballing journey.”
At the end of each practice one of the children receive a player of the week certificate, which is designed to encourage them to reach their potential.
The sessions will run for thirteen weeks up until April, except during half term.
