AN investigation has been launched after a thief failed to break into a home in Bracknell.

The incident happened some time between 10am and 9pm on January 9 at a property on School Hill, Crowthorne.

Having entered the rear garden, the offender tried to gain entry through a ground floor window.

When this did not work, they attempted to break through a plastic air vent.

A police spokesman said: "Fortunately, the offender was unsuccessful, or possibly disturbed and departed without managing to gain entry or to steal anything, however, leaving the homeowner with repair costs."

Thames Valley Police would like to hear from anyone who spotted anything suspicious in this area.

Police constable Aldridge, based at Loddon Valley, said “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, has any security CCTV or may have information."
