AN IRATE cyclist attempted to punch a driver several times during a case of road rage in Finchampstead.

The victim, a 55-year-old man was travelling on White Horse Lane on January 3 at around 8am.

A cyclist in front of the car started to make hand gestures, before the driver overtook the bicycle in the direction of Nine Mile Ride.

A second person on a bike travelling in the centre of the road caused the car to stop.

When the victim opened his car door, the first cyclist then attempted to punch him several times to the head.

The driver then got out of his car and an altercation followed, but the victim did not suffer any injuries.

Investigating officers have released a CCTV image of two men, who may have vital information about this assault.

Police constable Rachel Pithers, based at Loddon Valley, said: “I am keen to speak to the men in this image.

“As the incident took place during a busy time of day, there may be other commuters who witnessed the altercation.

“Anyone who recognises the men in this picture, or has information about this incident, should contact Thames Valley Police on 101 quoting reference 43190002183."
