THE Elms Field development site in Wokingham has taken a step forward as council’s car park reopens.

The car park at the Council’s Shute End Civic offices has reopened, which will link through to the new road being built around the park.

The area has been remodelled and is part of the Elms Field regeneration works. Once the work is completed the development site will have a new cinema and a 95-bed Premiere Inn hotel.

Councillor Chris Bowring, deputy executive member for Regeneration, said: “The new car park offers much better pedestrian access to the council’s reception area.

“It also provides additional blue badge parking right by the entrance while the visitors’ parking has been relocated past reception on the right.”

The parking will still be for office workers in the day but remains open to the public in the evenings and at weekends.

Chris added: “Work at Elms Field is progressing quickly, and people can really start to see progress happening across the site.

“People will continue to see lots of progress in the coming year as we start to complete the commercial blocks, open the new road around the park, and finish landscaping the park and play area ready to reopen later in the year."
