A TRIAL has been fixed after a woman was found dead with stab wounds on Boxing Day.

Angela Mittal, of Parker Close, Shinfield, was discovered at around 5.40am on December 26.

Husband Laurens Brand, of the same address, was charged with one count of murder.

The 47-year-old appeared at Reading Crown Court on January 2 for a preliminary hearing.

He appeared via video link from Bullingdon Prison and spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and Dutch nationality.

Brand is yet to enter a plea in relation to these matters, but a trial date has been set for June 3.

Michael Roques, prosecuting, said: “There are a number of forensic aspects to this case and there were a number of weapons seized.

“This is a case with multiple stab wounds and a fracture to the rib caused by a knife.

“The pathologist will almost certainly say this was caused by severe force.

“The call was made to the police via the defendant.”

Brand was asked to produce a defence statement in relation to these matters and this must be served to the court by March 15.

He will remain in custody in the meantime.

The family of Angela Mittal issued a statement following her death.

They said: “Angela Mittal, age 41, passed away on Tuesday, December 26.

“She was born in England, to Bharat and Kamla Mittal.

“Angela was a kind and generous person who truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family.

“Angela had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

“Angela lit up the room with a big smile on her face – always putting the needs of others before her.

“She is survived by her loving parents, her sisters and her brothers-in-law.”
