THE ROYAL Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service are warning residents to stay safe when celebrating the New Year.

The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service has provided some useful tips to help residents celebrate safely.

Chelsea Bridges Prevention Project Manager said: “New Year celebrations are an important time of the year for many of our residents, who may be going out or welcoming friends and family to their homes.”

The advice includes being aware of the hazard’s lanterns create, making sure candles aren’t left on all night, how to control bonfires safely and not drinking alcohol when setting off fireworks.

Chelsea added: “whilst we don’t want to spoil anyone’s fun, we want to remind residents to take care, especially when using fireworks, bonfires, lanterns or candles, which carry a particular risk.”
