Tilehurst Royal British Legion fished Hardwicke on the River Thames, Simon Couling taking the honours with 21lbs 15ozs of quality fish ahead of Darren Wright (15lbs 12ozs) and Liam Page-Smith (14lbs 6ozs) that included a chub of 5lbs 8ozs.

The previous weekend saw three Reading & District Angling Association clubs on the Kennet & Avon Canal.

Courage held their Christmas match at Froxfield A. Ian Claridge won with 2lbs 14ozs, pipping Aaron Phillipps by one ounce and Simon Copson by two.

At Froxfield B, Graham Hawkins took the honours with 2lbs 6ozs of roach and gudgeon ahead of Roy Green (2lbs) and Graham Walker (1lb 9ozs).

Obituary

IT is with great regret that Reading & District Angling Association have to report the death of their former match secretary Ken Wilmott.

Ken held the role for more than 20 years when match participation would rise above 400 anglers.

His funeral will be held on Friday, January 4 at West Berkshire Crematorium (1.30pm) and afterwards at the Civil Service Club, Burghfield.

Those wishing to attend the funeral and afterwards are asked to let RDAA know in advance via phone, email, text or Facebook.
