A 23-year-old from Reading has now been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, or enable another do so.

He has since been released on bail.

Following the incident, the offenders escaped in a white vehicle with blacked out windows.

Detective inspector Fiona Pearce said: “I would like to reassure the public that we do not believe this to be a random shooting, and that all those involved are known to each other.

"However, we are keeping an open mind as to the motive at this time.

“You will see an increased police presence in the area in the coming days, including high-visibility extra patrols.’’

Police are encouraging any witnesses to come forward and speak to an officer on 101.
