A GENEROUS racing driver has battled against 30 cars on the tracks to raise money for a charity close to his heart.

Ross Boorman, from Bracknell finished in 8th position out of 35 competitors in the 2018 Clio Championships in aid of Breast Cancer Now.

He said: “Being a family run race team, family means everything to us. Sadly Breast Cancer has affected us twice but we won together as a family and that is our proudest achievement.

"With the fantastic support and treatments available, we were lucky enough to beat cancer."

The Bracknell family racing team raised £400 by collecting money in buckets at race meetings and have also set up a Just Giving Page.

Ross added: “This is why Ross Boorman Racing have been so passionate to support, donate funds and create awareness for Breast Cancer Now.”

The team came eighth out of 35 cars in 16 tough rounds, despite not gaining any points from three races and a mechanical failure at Rockingham Motor Circuit.

Now, the Bracknell based racing team are competing in the 750 Motor Club Clio 182 Championship with races being held across the UK.

Ross was also awarded driver of the meeting at this years Silverstone circuit and was presented with a trophy.

He added: “I would like to thank all those who have donated to this cause to help fund vital research into this devastating disease.”

RB Racing aim to take part in the Clio Championship next year and seek local sponsorship to grow further.
