A NEW Waterstones store will be open in Wokingham town centre in time for the Christmas shopping rush.
The new Waterstones store will be the only bookshop in the town, following the closure of the independent bookshop Bookends in 2017.
James Daunt, Waterstones Managing Director said: “We consider ourselves very fortunate to have found in Wokingham such a large and attractive shop, and greatly look forward to turning it into a really good bookshop.”
The store will open in the towns new Peach Street development on Saturday, 8 December.
Councillor Philip Mirfin, executive member for regeneration, said: “We’ve had many people telling us how much they miss having a great bookshop in the town centre and we’re really looking forward to welcoming Waterstones to Wokingham.
GAIL’s artisan bakers and Cook frozen food retailer will also be in the town centre before Christmas.
