A FAMILY has been left devastated after their home was hit by thieves, just days after a blaze destroyed their home.

The property on Wayland Close, Bracknell, caught fire on Monday, November 5 after Maria Cox discovered the fire in her kitchen at around 12.30pm.

Shane and Maria were due to go on holiday that day, but a fire broke out which was attended to by three fire crews from Bracknell, Wokingham and Ascot.

Stephanie Cox, Shane’s sister, said: “My brother is shocked and he’s just in tears. He doesn’t even have the words to describe how he feels.

“To go in and do that after a massive fire is just horrible. It is horrific, it is beyond belief. They just have no morals. Haven’t my family suffered enough?”

The couple arrived at their home to retrieve their belongings, only to discover a bicycle and a Nintendo Switch had been stolen.

Clive Morris, who is not a friend or relative to the family, hopes to raise £1,000 for the family.

After seeing their sad story on Facebook, he launched an online fundraising page.

Shane and Maria, along with their two children Scarlett, eight, and Leo, five, are staying at his sister home.

Steph said angrily: “Some thieving low life scumbag - and that’s being polite - has gone in there and removed anything that they thought was salvageable and worth something.

“My brother and his family had a fire in their home, destroying the kitchen and leaving everything else smoke and soot damaged; they have virtually lost everything.”

Their mother Julie Cox posted the terrible news on Facebook and a good Samaritan jumped to their rescue.

Steph added: “I’d like to thank him [Mr Morris] - it’s so kind. They’re staying at mine now, but I wish I could help my brother even more.

“Their two children have lost all their toys and possessions and the eldest keeps asking when they can go home so she can play with her toys. It is heart-breaking.”
