A TUTOR has scooped a global award for his outstanding commitment to changing children's lives.

Chris Hinsley has only been a tutor with the Berkshire office of Tutor Doctor for less than two years, but has already made a huge impact with his students.

Having dedicated his time and effort to educating children, he has clinched the title for Global Tutor of the Year.

He said: “To be recognised by my bosses, Mark and Joanna, was wonderful. Then I won the UK award and now, being awarded at an international level, by industry experts, is both humbling and very much appreciated.

"I am proud to have developed skills for getting young people that have no interest in education to believe in its value and, most importantly, themselves."

He earned his place as a finalist in the global awards after being named UK Tutor of the Year in August.

The 35-year-old won the top prize after more than 600 tutors were nominated and more than 40,000 votes cast worldwide.

It was Mr Hinsley's commitment to young people and helping them better their lives through education that stood out to the panel.

He works 22 hours a week with Tutor Doctor and spends two days at Reading Youth Offending Service, helping 13 to 17-year-olds with their communication skills.

Frank Milner, CEO of Tutor Doctor, added: “Although all of the finalists are fantastic at what they do, Chris is a worthy winner.

“He demonstrates true passion and commitment to his tutoring, whilst changing the lives of families too.

"Chris epitomises everything the company stands for; helping students to reach their full potential and achieve greatness with the five-star service that he provides.”

Along with his new title, he received an all-expenses paid trip worth £1,500.

Matt McCorkle, who sat on the judging panel, said: “His clarity of purpose was ultimately why I chose Chris.

"I feel that his story best exemplifies the full value that tutors can provide. Chris genuinely sees his role as a supportive mentor as his core responsibility.”
