A TERRIFIED convenience store worker is believed to have been slashed with a blade during an attempted robbery.

Two masked men entered the One Stop shop on Wokingham Road, Earley, at around 8.25pm on October 10.

The victim, a member of staff, suffered a chest injury, which is believed to have been caused by a bladed article.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital to have treatment for a non-life-threatening injury and remains in hospital.

Both offenders are believed to be in their late teens, both wearing dark clothing and face coverings.

One offender is believed to be a white man and the other a black man.

Detective constable Christopher Andrews, of Force CID at Newbury station, said: “This was a frightening incident which took place in a very public area.

“The victim was lucky not to have sustained more serious injuries during this incident.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw or heard something.”
