Members of the council are being investigated by the authority after complaints were received about their conduct from the public.

Three borough council members and two town council members are set to be scrutinised by Wokingham Borough Council’s standards committee after an update is given to councillors at a meeting.

A report detailing the complaints read: “Since the last report on Complaints to the Committee on 4 July 2018 there have been five new complaints received.

“A verbal update will be given at the meeting on any specific patterns/trends or other matters that the committee may need to consider.

“Also, the committee is asked to consider any broader training issues that arise from these and previous complaints.”

All of the complaints were received in August 2018 and investigations are currently ongoing.

Two of the complaints relate to member conduct at a public meeting while another relates to a planning matter.

One of the complaints that focuses on Wokingham Town Council members relates to a post on social media, and the other relates to this complaint arguing that the initial complaint is malicious.

Councillors will be updated on the complaints at a meeting on Monday, October 15.
