A hospice big-wig will brave three metres of burning hot coles barefoot.

On October 28 Cheryl Armitage, director of income generation at St Clare Hospice and one of its directors, will take her shoes and socks off and walk over red-hot wood embers, smouldering at over 800°F.

Cheryl will join up to forty other fierce firewalkers this October, as she supports St Clare to reach its fundraising target of a scorching £10,000.

Ms Armitage said: “I am both nervous and excited to take on this fiery fundraiser in aid of St Clare.

"Braving a Firewalk is one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that you simply can’t miss, and I know that this experience of conquering my fear will stay with me forever.

“I’m braving the heat because I know what a difference raising vital funding makes to the Hospice.

"The Income Generation team work tirelessly to raise over £2.5million each year for St Clare, always going the extra mile to ensure that we are hitting our targets so the Hospice can offer its vital care and support in the community. Taking on the Firewalk is my way of leading by example, putting my best foot forward into the flaming fire for the hospice I love.”

The St Clare Firewalk can be joined for £25 per person.
