AN ENRAGED mother has called for safer roads after her teenage daughter was hit by a car on her way to school.

Molly Marshall-Mossman, 13, was walking along Charters Road, Ascot, when she was struck by a car.

She was left with facial injuries, and three broken bones.

Her mother, Melanie Bellwood, has now called on the council, to widen the pavement on Charters Road due to the children.

Following calls for safer pavements, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has announced it will be carrying out work on the road, involving the widening of the pavement.

Ms Bellwood said: “That road is so dangerous, people do not properly realise how bad it really is.

“The road needs to be made safer before somebody else gets hurt. My daughter was traumatised by the whole thing, and how long will it be before somebody else gets hit? Something needs to be done about this road.

A spokeswoman from the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead said: “As part of our on-going commitment to improving our pavements and road crossings, we will be starting work near the Charters School site for five days from 28 August to widen the school crossing point to create a more accessible crossing point for all.”
