MORE than £2,000 was raised when a dog sanctuary opened its doors to the public.

Pine Ridge Dog Sanctuary, in Priory Road, Ascot, held an open day on Saturday, August 4 for members of the public to tour its facilities, enjoy some delicious treats and, of course, meet the dogs.

Fun stalls, raffles and tombolas all contributed to the fundraising total for the day, which came in at a whopping £2,228.

Celebrating its 60th anniversary, the fun day also featured a barbecue, food and drink stalls and crafts.

Organiser Connie Cuff said: "Our open day was excellent, the best ever. It was record-breaking, we have never raised so much.

"We always have a lovely time, but this year was very special. Lots of money was raised, and a number of dogs were re-homed as well which is really lovely.

"I'd like to sya a big thank you to everyone who came along, and to all of our volunteers who helped throughout the day."

Pine Ridge will be holding its annual Dog Show on Sunday, August 19 from 12pm.
