A RAPIST has been sentenced to ten years in prison after being convicted of raping an 18-year old as he walked her home.

A jury at Reading Crown Court heard that Jack Greenwood, of Bristow Road, Camberley, had raped the teenager as he walked her home in the early hours of the morning on December 17 2015.

The 27-year-old was arrested on March 22 2016 and charged more than a year later, on July 2 2017.

He was found guilty by unanimous verdict on March 8 following a three-day trial, before returning to the same court on Friday April 6 for his sentencing.

During proceedings, he was also found not-guilty when charged with a further count of rape and another of sexual assault in relation to the same incident.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Lyndsey Shaw, of Slough Force CID, said: “This was an horrific attack on a young woman.

“The actions exhibited by Greenwood showed him to be a manipulative and calculating individual.

“Throughout the course of the investigation, Greenwood denied any responsibility for his actions and showed no remorse, but he has been found guilty of one count of rape.

“His continual denial led to the victim having to give evidence at trial and relive the distressing events of the incident.

“I would like to thank her for her bravery throughout the investigation. She has shown great strength and courage in reporting the incident, and during the trial process.”
