A MAN has been sentenced to 15 months in prison after indecently exposing himself at a railway station.

Wayne Surajballi, 29, of Newbury Street, Lambeth, appeared at Reading Crown Court on March 14 where he pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity in the presence of a child and one count of exposure.

At around 3:30pm on Sunday, December 10, a 14-year-old girl was in the station waiting room at Martins Heron when she spotted Surajballi touching himself inappropriately.

The victim immediately reported the incident to the station however Surajballi left the scene.

The same day, BTP officers were called back to the same station after reports that a man was openly touching himself inappropriately.

Officers attended and Surajballi attempted to evade custody by running onto the tracks. He was quickly caught and arrested.

In addition to the custodial sentence, Surjaballi has also been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.

DC Darren Davies from BTP said: “The defendant’s behaviour at Martins Heron station was completely disgusting; no one should ever have to experience this. I am pleased officers were able to arrest him, likewise I welcome the custodial sentence he has received.

“Hopefully this sends a very clear message that inappropriate behaviour like this will never be tolerated on the rail network. We police a CCTV rich environment which helps us in identifying and prosecuting offenders.”
