A ROYAL has formally re-opened Coral Reef Waterworld following its recent refurbishment.

Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex visited the Bracknell water park where she was given a demonstration of the water slides before introduced to a pirate aboard The Carolina ship.

The Countess of Wessex was taken on a tour of the venue, where she met and spoke with council staff and members.

After her tour of the facility, The Countess of Wessex made her way to The Reef Restaurant where she formally marked the re-opening of Coral Reef with the unveiling of a plaque, which will be displayed in the reception area.

Councillor Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, resources and public protection said: “It has been a privilege to be part of such a special day.

"I had the honour of being able to accompany Her Royal Highness on her tour of Coral Reef and talk to her about my long standing relationship with the venue and why it holds a place close to my heart.

“Coral Reef remained open to the public during The Countess of Wessex's visit and it was fantastic to see our visitors being able to play a part in such an iconic day.

"This has been a day that I will remember for many years to come.”
