THE TOWN will have superfast broadband from 2019.
‘Superfast Berkshire’ was launched in 2011 under the Governments Broadband Delivery programme.
At a Wokingham Borough Council meeting on November 23, Councillor Angus Ross asked when the scheme would be rolled out.
Cllr Stuart Munro said: “The third and final phase is now underway after contracts were awarded to BT and Gigaclear in July.
"In Wokingham Borough, coverage will reach 99.53 per cent by the end of the third phase of the project in 2019.
“BT and Gigaclear are currently surveying across the phase 3 areas and producing detailed plans for implementation which will start in January 2018.
"Initial discussions have already been held with WBC officers to identify any constraints, risks and issues.”
