RECYCLING has earned a local school a cheque for £1,000 to promote green living.
Greenredeem, an organisation set up to reward schools for recycling by allocating points for the amount they recycle, awarded Piggott their winner this year, ahead of Oaklands Junior, Evendons Primary, Colleton Primary and All Saints CE (Aided) Primary.
The three runners up all received cheques of £250, but it was the Robert Piggott CE Federation of Schools that received the top prize after recycling enough to fill up 7 full trucks.
Cllr John Halsall, Wokingham councillor for Remenham, Wargrave & Ruscombe, said: “Congratulations to Robert Piggott C of E Schools. I’m delighted to see the borough’s recycling rewards programme continuing to benefit the whole community and specifically such a worthwhile cause which the school have adopted.
“The schools donation programme is an excellent way to use well-earned Greenredeem points and encourage local children to think sustainably about the future”
Greenredeem’s Director of marketing and communications, Rob Crumbie, said: “We’re always astounded by the generosity of members in the Wokingham Borough to donate their points to good causes.
“With the scheme now available all year round, we’re really pleased that the positive action of recycling can have many benefits for schools across Wokingham Borough.”
