A SANDHURST school received a visit from a rugby world cup winner last week.
Alex Matthews, 24, is a loose forward for the Red Roses, the England Womens’ rugby team.
She played a pivotal role in the 2014 rugby world cup, when England beat Canada 21-9 in the final in Paris.
Ms Matthews visited Uplands to take part in a rugby session for the young kids, and brought her gold medal along with her too.
The children left the two-hour session inspired by the opportunity to meet such a talented and passionate athlete, who also participated in a Q/A with the kids.
Ms Matthews, who is from Camberley, will now join up with the England sevens team for the 2017/18 season, where she will compete in the HSBC Women’s Sevens World Series, and then the Commonwealth Games.
