CARE HOME residents have been given the opportunity to team up with youngsters to take on a community challenge.
As part of the National Citizen Service programme, the volunteers, who were aged 15-17, attended RMBI Home Lord Harris Court in Sindlesham to meet the residents.
Whilst they were there the teenagers and residents took part in activities such as organising a British themed tea party and quiz, as well as talking about their experiences.
Speaking about coming together, resident Stan Smith said: “I thoroughly enjoyed talking to the young people about my life and sharing some photos of my grandson who is currently serving in the military police.
"I think the volunteers did very well with the tea party they organised; at the beginning I thought that we wouldn’t have anything in common but we did, which surprised me.”
Activities Coordinator, Billie Devereaux added: “The community partner scheme is fantastic for both residents and students. It really helps the students to make new friends and builds their confidence.
"It also creates a platform for younger people to get to know our residents; many of them have led fascinating lives and have so many stories to share.”
