Schoolchildren were given the chance to participate in an afternoon of athletics at Luckley House School.

The Wokingham independent school organised the 'Primary schools sports for all' event to give local primary schools the chance to participate in competitive sports against other schools.

As well as providing a platform for primary students to compete, the event was also organised to give pupils at the senior school the experience of running an event, as well as mentoring and coaching younger children.

Each school entered a team of four boys and four girls, participating in a wide variety of sporting activities, such as long jump, triple jump, skipping and ball throwing.

After these events and races, there was a series of athletic events, including a 4x100 relay, won by Beechwood school in both the boys and girls categories.

The participating schools were: The Colleton Primary, Highwood Primary, St Michaels Primary, Oaklands Junior, St Sebastians Primary, Whiteknights Primary, Evendons Primary, Westende Junior, Beechwood Primary, and Farley Hill Primary.

Kirstie Hobson, Head of PE at Luckley said: "The atmosphere was fantastic and the children really got into the spirit of the competition, enthusiastically cheering on their team mates.

"I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event and we hope that they will join us again next year.”
