A POLICE car was rammed into a ditch after a car crashed into it and drove off in Warfield last night.

The car was travelling along Binfield Road just before 5pm when another car left a private driveway and hit the vehicle forcing it into a ditch.

The driver then drove off without stopping.

A spokeswoman for Thames Valley Police confirmed there were three police officers in the car at the time.

Two ambulances and an ambulance officer attended the incident.

David Gallagher from the South Central Ambulance Service, confirmed that two of the officers, who were both male, were rushed to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, as one was suffering from chest injuries and another had suffered head and arm injuries.

The other officer, also male, had only suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Fire crews from Bracknell and Ascot also rushed to the scene, though none of the officers were trapped in the car, and a police cordon was put in place to stop other cars travelling down the road.

A man was then arrested two hours later in connection with the incident and on suspicion of a number of traffic offences.
