Cllr Andy Blatchford, the former Deputy Mayor, was invested as mayor at a full meeting of the council this evening (Wednesday).
The position was sadly left open following death of the previous mayor Alan Kendall in November last year after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
In a speech, Conservative councillor Mr Blatchford said he was 'proud' to serve the borough.
He said: "I am proud of the Bracknell borough and the people that make the borough a better place.
"I'd like to thank my wife Anne for all the duties we have undertaken."
