Over 40 per cent of people in Berkshire have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

The NHS states that 405,685 people in the county had received a jab by April 4 and 106,015 of them are under the age of 50.

That means around 44 per cent of the population in Berkshire has been vaccinated, as there are around 914,859 people living in the county, according to the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) estimate.

The figures show 76,072 people in Windsor and Maidenhead have received a jab – that’s around half the population.

Another 78,944 have been vaccinated in West Berkshire, which equates to 49.8 per cent of the population.

In Wokingham, the uptake is 46 per cent as 79,768 have had a jab.

According to the figures, 54,253 have been vaccinated in Bracknell Forest – that’s around 44 per cent of the population.

Another 62,985 have taken the jab in Reading, so the uptake is 38.9 per cent.

Slough has recorded the lowest uptake, as 53,663 have been vaccinated – that’s 35.8 per cent of the population.

The latest figures show 56,030 people in Berkshire have tested positive for Covid-19 during the pandemic and 1,752 have died.

Non-essential shops, hairdressers and pubs and restaurants with outdoor seating were allowed to reopen on Monday, April 12, as the government continues to ease the lockdown restrictions.
