LIFE savers from the St John Ambulance will get a cash boost from a Songs Of Spring concert.

The event, hosted by Park United Reformed Church, in Palmer Park Avenue, east Reading, is on Saturday, at 7.30pm when The Chorate Chamber Choir and The Tapestry Female Voice Choir will be performing. The programme will include a variety of songs inspired by the changing seasons, nature and new life. Entry is free and refreshments will be provided but a collection will be taken to support St John Ambulance's work within the community.

Noel Mundy, area manager for the charity, said: "The work our volunteers do in and around Reading can be the difference between lives lost and lives saved so coming along to the concert is a great way for local people to show their support and appreciation."

The charity has three local volunteer units in Theale, Woodley and at Brock Barracks in west Reading.
