They'VE been there, done it and bought the T-shirt, but that's not why these guys are still kicking about in the music business, as Spin Doctors guitarist Eric Schenkman explains, they're in it for the love of the ride.

The four-piece found the prescription to success in the nineties with their euphoric guitar anthems Two Princes ("just go ahead now!") and Little Miss Can't Be Wrong, from debut album Pocket Full Of Kryptonite.

Following the 20th anniversary of the record, which reached number two in the UK charts, they are back on the road with the original line-up of Schenkman, vocalist Chris Barron, drummer Aaron Comess and Mark White on bass, and the New Yorkers play Sub89 on Friday, February 1. Eric said: "Chris has been writing blues songs since he was a kid and when we started playing in Manhattan, playing blues was the only way you could get in - so we're bringing our original s*** back to the forefront! We're just a really killer blues band at the heart of it."

Fans can snap up the first copies of the band's new 10-track record at the show, as well as celebrate the eponymous songs among the "electric vibrations". Eric added: "Our show right now is probably the new stuff plus the best of the old stuff. It all falls together really well. When you're younger you can tend to meander but we're more concise now. We're loud, with electric vibrations. We're the best we have been."

And of the album which saw them ride private jets, open for the Rolling Stones and play Glastonbury Festival, Eric told us: "With Pocket Full Of kryptonite, there was the strength of the live show. We played live and people danced all night long. The roof and the walls were dripping with water by the end of the night. It's great to play and we love doing it. The four of us love to play. We are like a happy, dysfunctional family."

He added: "People who grew up in the early nineties have [PFOK] in their hearts, it was in their life somehow, and all of those people have a great reaction to the band. Others are like 'oh yeah, I remember that band!' Whether you're young or in between you'll like it. My kids like the band, it's just a matter of getting to the show and in the door. If you heard us then you'll like us now."

Tickets are £15 from www.sub89.com or by calling 0118 959 5395.
