While the weather may not be exactly what we wanted for summer in Reading, the next month definitely has a good forecast for strong nights out with many different tastes in music being covered. First, tomorrow (Friday), CUBED at SUB89 welcomes back Santero and Mighty Atom of The Disablists. Both artists have won awards for their skills on the decks; Santero is a former Red Bull Thre3style Champion and The Disablists are four times UK DMC Champions.

Alongside them will be a set from local DJ David Bowler, who recently played alongside Felix Da Housecat and at Ministry of Sound. Three weeks later, also at CUBED, will be a line-up that will be exciting to lovers of both original and new UK bass music. Headlining the night will be two step legend and Mercury Music Prize nominee M.J. Cole, while support will come from hotly tipped newcomers Bondax who, like Disclosure, are widely recognized as future talents with incredible skills for such young producers (both are under 19 years old).

Again, local talent is also highly represented on the night with Dolla (who played alongside M.J. Cole in Reading over 13 years ago!), Majora and Shoutyman all preparing sets for what looks set to be a landmark night at the Friar Street venue. On the live music front, London-based indie five piece Tigercats will be playing at The Butler in Chatham Street, Reading on Wednesday, July 11. Just back from a European tour (including Primavera Festival in Spain), the bands debut album 'Isle Of Dogs' has been collecting great reviews, including from The Sunday Times who declared "Tigercats are a very, VERY good band".

Support comes from local acts Wild Swimmers and Night Society, the last of which is the alias of Willow Colios, who also promotes the night.

The first six months of this year has seen some seriously good club nights and live sets in our town…all supporters of seeing great new talent (and groundbreaking artists like M.J. Cole) performing in Reading should head down to these shows.

  This is music for Prudential workers. On a plus Sub89 are getting Gary Numan in September which will make up for it.
