LOCAL MUSIC MAN: Steve Siddle

November has already been a very busy month round these parts and the rest of it, will be even busier. I am personally really looking forward to seeing Frank Turner at the Hexagon next Thursday (November 15th) I haven't been to the Hexaon since the musical 'Buddy'.

Frank has finished recording his new album in America which will be released in 2013 on Xtra Nile Recordings.

Two days later, on Saturday, November 17, a very good friend of Frank's - Reading-based Ben Marwood - will be headlining the Rising Sun Arts Centre, at 30 Silver Street, Reading. Mr Turner took our Ben on tour last year and also invited Mr Marwood to be part of his band at the Olympic opening ceremony, which is still a very surreal piece of telly. Main support are The Retrospective Soundtrack Players (surely the band name of the month?) whose new album is a wonderful, uplifting piece of clever musical greatness and is released by Xtra Mile Recording. It's out now. The day before, Friday November 16, Mal Function and TBC Promotions are joining forces to bring you a new night, #ThankGodItsFriday #Just Saying, at The Queens Arms, in Great Knollys Street (next to Reading buses). The wonderful Violet Class headline this month, and the likes of Ady Williams and the legend that is Gary Bushell are now fans. Doors open at 8pm and it's only five pounds on the door. The Queens Arms is a wonderful public house.

The next Darklands - the only DJ night where you will hear the Field Mice being played next to Fugazi next to Big Black To Ride - is on Friday, November 23, at The Corn Stores, Forbury Road RG1. Kick off is 8pm till late and it's free entry.

Finally, on November 30, Viena Ditto headline Rising Sun Arts Centre, 30 Silver Street, Reading. The girl/boy revolution that is Vienna Ditto is a must-see musical adventure. The Jettes are main support and Punch Drunk Lover are opening, with their debut gig. PDL deal in a form of sexy-witch house. Doors open at 8pm and entry is five pounds.
