BINFIELD skeet shooter Amber Hill has been selected for British Shooting’s World Class Performance Programme.

Hill, 16, capped off a brilliant 2013 by winning the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

And she has been given an extra boost by being chosen for the programme, which was created by UK Sport and is funded by the National Lottery to ensure that the UK’s most talented athletes have every chance of realising their potential in major competition.

She said: “It means a lot to me to be put on the programme. It will help me a lot to reach my goal of competing at Rio.

“It will definitely allow me to train more, improve as an athlete and continue to compete at such a high international level.” Hill, who finished the season ranked number one senior in Great Britain and number five in the world, will also be a guest at the Berkshire Inspiration and Participation Awards taking place in Binfield on February 7.
