Olivia Spellman and Jenny Roberts competed in the Kyu Grade competition in High Wycombe.

Both were entered at Under 57kg in the first Kyu section and fought well with Olivia taking gold and Jenny a bronze, despite retiring with an injured back.

Ettienne Keeler and Jonny Northover made the long trip up to Welshpool for the AJ Memorial Competition.

It was an important event for Pinewood as this was held in memory of the late and great Ryan Birch, who was married to Pinewood’s own Rowena Birch.

Despite the long drive and the fighters’ relative inexperience, both fought very well in strong combined grade groups.

Each took a gold medal home along with plenty of important experience which will stand them in good stead for the future.

Meanwhile, at the Hampshire Split Grade Open Competition, Terri Gough took a gold medal, with Callum Jones matching her with a gold of his own.

Younger brother Noah Jones continued his run of form by taking gold in his own weight group at U30 kg.

In a double success, he then joined the U34 kg group for some extra fights and managed another gold.
