Wokingham’s Graeme Robertson was the non-playing captain of the England team which triumphed 12-6 over two days at The Wiltshire Golf Club.

Bracknell’s Kevin White, who suffers from spinal issues and arthritis, was also part of the England team.

The pair were competing in the second home countries international event for disabled and impaired golfers.

The teams include amputees, stroke survivors and those with a range of disabilities including Multiple Sclerosis.

England won last year’s inaugural competition in Wales, which has been named the Oldfield Trophy.

This year’s match was evenly balanced after the first day, with England leading 4-2.

And the home nation dominated the singles matches on the second day to win 8-4 and 12-6 overall.

Robertson said: “I am very proud of the team and their performance and sportsmanship. The camaraderie with the Welsh players on and off the course was superb “It takes two teams to have a good match, but there can only be one winner. But the real winner was disabled golf. It was great to see guys with different disabilities playing with and against each other enjoying the game we all love.” England’s next home countries match is a 3-day Ryder Cup-style event against Scotland for the Auld Enemies Cup at The Shire Golf club between September 15–17.
