The 29-year-old played a vital role for GB as they made history by securing fifth place overall.

Sugden and her teammates led GB to a memorable 77-70 overtime win over London 2012 Paralympic silver medallists Australia in their final match to clinch fifth place.

Sugden finished GB’s second highest scorer against Australia with 12 points behind Helen Freeman, who secured 41 points.

Prior to this year’s championships, GB Women’s highest ever finish had been sixth place, achieved at the World Championship in both 2010 (Birmingham) and 1994 (Stoke Mandeville).
