BERKSHIRE Golf Club member Lucinda Dashwood is one step closer to a round of a lifetime with a European Tour star after she won through a regional final of the Bridgestone Chase Your Dream Trophy.

The Ascot resident kept alive her dream of a place in the pro-am of the British Masters when she qualified at Blackwell Golf Club She will now head to Frilford Heath for the national finals, with the top players there then playing in the pro-am of the Bridgestone Challenge and the winning team sealing a spot at the British Masters.

It is a journey which is already capturing the imaginations of thousands of amateur golfers, just as it did in its inaugural year 12 months ago.

Dashwood, who scored a nett 72 in qualifying on the Worcestershire course, had two reasons to celebrate when qualifying: “It was actually my sister’s wedding the day before we played Blackwell. This really is an unexpected cherry on the cake.

“It’s a great course which really tests your accuracy and long game. I loved playing in the tournament, with some fabulous partners and can’t wait for the next round.”

The 10-handicapper has already decided her tactics for Frilford: “It’s all about process, working hard and having fun – hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to go all the way to the British Masters.

“That’s what this tournament is all about and I can’t thank Bridgestone and England Golf enough for making us golfing amateurs feel incredibly special from the moment we arrived.”
