PERFORMERS from Crowthorne-based Washindi have attended two competitions as they attempt to qualify for the English Championships in Sheffield later this year.

In the first event in Gillingham, Harry Slatter, competing in the 9-10 male category, gained a creditable 15th place as did Owen Whittall in the 11-12 males.

Lydia Osborn was 31st in the 17+ ladies, while Kofi Elhaggagi secured a brilliant eighth place in the 11-12 boys.

In Telford, Slatter upped his game and gained 10th place in 9-10 boys and Elhaggagi held his nerve to gain the same in 11-12 males.

Osborn improved to take 25th in the 17+ ladies, while Bethan Gill claimed 14th.

Angelica Xanthoulis was 48th in the 11-12 females event, although she was competing in a large field with a number of outstanding trampolinists.

The club is now waiting to see which performers will be selected to compete at the nationals.

  • SHANAZ Khambatta, the youngest competitor in the competion, secured double gold in National Development Plan Club Development level one event for novices held by Washindi.

Four external clubs joined competitors from the host club, with Bronte Newbury, competing at level three, went from silver at the first competition to gold in the second.

AJ Fitzgibbon, recently returned to full training, achieved a well deserved bronze at level three, while Martha Splain and Bethan Fowler, were fourth and fifth.

In the synchronised event Lauren Nield and Bethan Gill, and Kofi Elhaggagi and Owen Whittall gained podium gold with Elhaggagi and Harry Slatter also taking a respectable silver position in the second event.
