DANIEL Ray bagged a brace as South Berkshire men started their MBBO Regional Two campaign with a 3-1 home win against Tring.
The home side started brightly and after Tom King was twice denied by the goalkeeper, South Berkshire went in front in the 14th minute when Chris Fifield found the back of the net.
David Harris was denied three times before the hosts doubled their advantage, Sam Fox-Harvey setting up Ray to make it 2-0 four minutes into the second half.
However, Chris Pedrick halved the deficit only three minutes later as Tring brought themselves back into the contest.
It was Ray (pictured) who was to play the decisive role, though, as his 56th-minute effort effectively put the game to bed.
South Berkshire travel to Newbury & Thatcham this coming Saturday (2pm).
South Berkshire ladies – who visit Slough 2nds on Saturday (10.30am) – also began with a win, overcoming Oxford 3rds 2-0 in Premier One.
