EIGHT of Washindi Trampoline Club’s advanced competitors have been touring the country to compete in the League Series of Trampolining competitions.

June saw the Crowthorne-based gymnasts attend competitions in Cardiff and South Shields in recent weeks.

While the group contained some seasoned competitors, it was also Lauren Neild’s first appearance for Washindi at this level.

The aim of the events were to accumulate enough points to qualify for the finals at the Olympic Park later this year.

Despite the challenging routines, consisting of at least seven somersaults, Neild shone in her age category at Cardiff (11-12 years, Girls League 3) and finished sixth.

In the 15-16 years Girls League 3 category, Ellie Stevenson came a respectable 12th, while Callum Gooding secured a silver medal for coming second in the 17-18 years Men’s League 3 category.

For the four Washindi competitors in the Women’s Over 19 League 3 category, Bethan Gill finished sixth at Cardiff and fourth at South Shields.

Meanwhile, Emily Sherrat finished 10th in South Shields, with Lydia Osborn in 21st.

Laura Caswell, who was returning to competition, ended in 26th position.
