WOKINGHAM beat Suttons 90-87 in the first leg of their annual Jim Clarke Trophy match.

The top rink for Wokingham was skipped by Bob Thompson along with Len Cooke, Alan Painter and Ron Swan, winning by 18 shots.

The second leg will be played at Suttons next month.

Wokingham B edged out Three Mile Cross 91-90 in Kennet League Division Two.

Colin Cleverly, Ted Melber, Brian Hoare and Dave Fielding won by five shots to finish highest up Wokingham rink.

Wokingham C lost their Division Three clash at Reading B 81-72.

In Kennet LV League Division One, Wokingham beat Woodley A 62-35, winning on two of the three rinks.

Top triple on the day was Paul Aylott, Len Cooke and Mike Drinkwater, winning by 19 shots.

Wokingham B won 67-30 at Palmer Park in Division Two.

Also in Division Two, Wokingham C lost 62-39 at Trentham A.

John MacGregor, along with Malcolm Woolgar and Keith Hutchings were the only winning triple for Wokingham, winning by five shots.

In Division Three, Wokingham lost 58-38 to Reading B. Wokingham had one successful triple skipped by Roy Fewster with Alan Painter and Peter Bennett, winning by four shots.

In Thames Valley Ladies League Division Three, Wokingham Oakapples lost 68-49 to University of Reading.

Wokingham won two of the three triples including the top triple of Vidy Melber (skip), Jill Francis and Rosemary Musto, winning by 15 shots.

Wokingham Acorns travelled to Bracknell in Division One and won on all three rinks for a 86-26 victory.

Great Hollands

GREAT Hollands Linnets drew drew 47-47 with Island Bohemia but lost 4-6 on points in Thames Valley Ladies League.

The only winning rink was Rita Littleford, Anne Neville and Rita Hills who won 19-15. Sheila Lee, Lorraine Capon and Olive Bambury narrowly lost 15-16 with Jose Chippendale, Ingrid Girdlestone and Sheila Readings losing 13-17.

The Wrens lost 59-34 at Burghfield for an 8-2 points defeat. The only winning triple was Sheila Strickland, Jean Williams and Myrtle McMoneagle. The losing triples were Rita Heaton, Rose Reason and Sheila Ledbury plus Mary Bowden, Angie Sherfield and Bridget Cruikshank.

The Kennet League team took all 14 points from their 99-58 win at Wargrave.

But the KLV team lost 10-0 on points after a 85-25 defeat to Maidenhead Town A.

Best rink was Ray Furnell, Mike Bowden and Bill Cheale, only losing 16-11. George Harris, David Brown and Syd Bambury lost 22-10 while Brian Rammell, Frank Townsend and John Treanor losting heavily 47-4.

The B team lost 54-52 to Desborough and 6-4 on points, while the C team won 51-43 against Suttons C and 8-2 on points.

The D team collected all 10 points against Wokingham D after a 47-39 win. Bill Heffill, Ray Penfold and Les Dykes won 18-15, Norman Bullock, George Auret and Stewart McMonealge won 16-14 and Neil Lofthouse, Paul Damiano and Robert Dearman won 13-10.

Windsor Great Park

WINDSOR Great Park's KLV3 team won their fourth game in a row with a 59-48 victory against Desborough C.

Top rink included Ron Willett, Ted Kelly and Ian Martin.

In county bowls, Andy Watson skipped Ted Kelly to a nailbiting 16-15 win against The Royal Household with victory coming on the last end.

In the county unbadged singles Park's, Paul Short beat Andy Watson 21-18 to reach the next round.

Ladies county senior Pairs team duo Gail Dorey (skip) and Pam Simms beat Burghfield 17-13 in the second round.

Ladies captain, Pam Simms (skip) and Angela Willett defeated Wokingham 21-18 to reach the last 16 of the Royal Berkshire county pairs.

Great Parks mixed team beat Hayes & District by nine shots with the top rink of Alan Jones (skip), Gail Dorey and Brian Joyner.

Sunningdale

SUNNINGDALE'S Mike Thompson, David Evans and Derek Cooper (skip) finished 26 shots ahead of Great Windsor Park to win the annual Ascot Cup contest after two legs.

Sunningdale lost 43-42 at Desborough Bluebells in the Thames Valley Ladies League. The winning rink for Sunningdale was Katherine Mathias, Janet Spencer and Margaret Nutley(skip).

Sunningdale Ladies were beaten by Bracknell in the Top Club Competition quarter final. Despite good wins in the singles and fours, they lost overall.

Sunningdale lost on all rinks at Maidenhead Thicket in Kennet League Division, Division Two East.

Sunningdale B won on all rinks at home to Wraysbury to finish 68-50 up for all 10 points. Highest scoring rink for Sunningdale: Alf Chell, Alan Isted, Don Allston (skip).
